Western Saddle Oak Bar Stool

I sat at the kitchen counter on a beautiful western saddle oak bar stool, and noticed how happy my parents seemed.  They worked busily together in their amazing southwest kitchen preparing our champagne brunch.  Life on the ranch sure agreed with them.  Their faces looked rested and tanned from time spent outdoors. I thought back to the fast pace I had just left in New York a few days before and was glad to finally feel free.

I couldn’t believe how lovely the ranch had become.  I heard from my parents from our weekly telephone conversations about the renovation projects and the great western items they were choosing for renovating their ranch.  These western saddle oak bar stools were a great example.  The oak seats were upholstered in Brindle cow hide and attached with brass tacks; the legs were hickory logs.  A stunning combination that seemed to belong on the ranch!  These six stools lining the counter seemed like little soldiers awaiting their orders as they obediently stood at attention.

Across the hall in my Dad’s den, there was a huge Brindle cow hide on the wall which pulled the look together.  It seemed that Dad and Mom had paid careful attention to even the smallest details as they decorated each rustic room to their liking with a western southwest flair.
