Painted Drums Make Great Wall Decor

My getaway cabin is looking more amazing with each new southwestern item that I bring in. From the rugs and runners to the Native American artifacts, my cabin is full of life and color. One more item that I have fell in love with is painted shaman drums. You can find many designs and styles that have been beautifully painted on them. Each will truly meet your southwestern decor style.

It is so funny to think that years ago drums were painted a little bit differently. The artist would sometimes use a stick with feathers or a ball of cotton on one end as some form of brush to personalize their drum. The paint was made from natural dyes that were found out in nature. A few of the natural sources found in nature that were used for various paints were berries, crushed stones and flowers, certain clay products, burnt shells and duck manure.

Now they are able to use modern day paints and tools to express their treasured heritage on their drums.  These colorful designs were commonly seen only in caves, but now we are able to enjoy them in the comfort of our own home. You will be thrilled to have a painted drum representing this incredible culture and heritage.
