Making The Right Choice For Southwest Style Flooring

While creating a southwestern room, you’ll certainly come upon the question as to which flooring is right and wonder what your options may be. There are many different choices from which you may choose. Mexican and southwestern decorated rooms commonly feature beautifully tiled floors with accent colored grout. The larger the tile, the more realistic the floor is to the southwest. A common size found throughout Mexico is about a twelve inch square. Wooden planks in materials such as oak may also be used. Parquet is another great option for creating a southwestern or Mexican feel as well. Other possible options include brick and stone.

If you like the idea of a stone or tile floor but want to add warmth to your room, there are many different covering options as well. Consider adding a Native American woven rug with a geometric design. An animal hide is yet another option you might consider. This is a great way to add realism and personality to your room in terms color as well as warmth to your feet when you walk across the floor.
