One common question that many people have when creating a western style room is what type of window treatments should be used. Window treatments used in western decor are typically uncomplicated. They should not be overpowering and be very simplistic in design. In fact, many western style rooms will have no window coverings at all so that the surrounding landscape and scenic views can be fully appreciated. However, if you feel that you do need some type of window treatment for privacy, consider using mini blinds or shutters made from real wood. These can be opened during the day and closed at night. A simple sheer curtain panel can then be placed over the blind or a valance across the top to add interest and color.
There are many other ways that you can brighten up a western style window beyond a typical window treatment. You may wish to add a window shelf across the bottom or middle of the window on which to place small objects of various heights, creating a unique way to display favorite objects or collections. Another unique western window treatment you may wish to incorporate is to install hooks across the top of your windows and hang house plants at varying heights. This gives a wonderful outdoor feeling and also helps beautify your room ,especially if the outside view is not desirable. Many designers have opted for a more rustic look by using woven wool table runners across the top of their windows, adding important color and texture to the room. Be unique with your western window treatments and have fun while you show off your decorating creativity.
